How to set your Airbnb cleaning fee

  1. Time a real turnover. Changing beds, laundry, bathrooms, kitchen reset and restocking usually takes 2–4 hours for a 1–3 bedroom place.
  2. Price the labor. Turnover cleaners usually charge a flat fee per turnover; ask locally or use an hourly rate for your city.
  3. Add consumables. Toilet paper, soap, coffee, trash bags and cleaning products usually run $5–$15 per stay.
  4. Add laundry or linen service if you pay someone to wash sheets and towels.
  5. Check the per-night impact. A $120 fee on a 2-night stay adds $60 a night to what the guest sees. If most of your stays are short, a lower fee and a slightly higher nightly rate often books better.

Frequently asked questions

What is a normal Airbnb cleaning fee?

Fees usually track the size of the listing: often around $50–$90 for a studio or 1-bedroom and $100–$200 for a 3-bedroom home, depending on local cleaner rates.

Should the cleaning fee cover my whole turnover cost?

Most hosts set it close to the real cost of the turnover. Charging well above cost makes the total price look high and can reduce bookings, especially for short stays.

How much should I pay my Airbnb cleaner?

Pay per turnover rather than hourly. A fair rate is the expected turnover time multiplied by your local cleaning rate, plus extra if they also do laundry or restock supplies.
